FAQ
DO YOU ALLOW VISITORS?
We are not a kennel, our puppies our raised in our home. While we would love to accommodate these requests, the health and wellbeing of our puppies is our number one priority. Our clients put their trust in us to raise their puppies in a safe environment. So the decision to not allow visitors was also made out of respect for them. We only allow visitors when families come to pick up their puppies and our home and nursery are off limits.
CAN I SET UP A PHONE CALL?
We like to reserve our time on the phone for families who are actively in the process of adopting one of our puppies. There are not enough hours in the day to speak to everyone who contacts us over the phone. This job is nonstop and raising our puppies is the most crucial and important use of our time. We rely primarily on email to communicate with potential clients. This helps us to stay organized and keep track on conversations.
DO YOU HEALTH TEST
YOUR DOGS?
Yes! All of the parents dogs in our program have been health tested. This includes genetic testing and screening for early signs of hip and elbow dysplasia, cardiac disease, eye disease and patella luxations. Results of this testing can be seen on the individual pages for each of our breeding dogs.
WHAT DOES YOUR HEALTH
GUARANTEE COVER?
Our health guarantee covers any testable genetic disease, Elbow Dsyplasia, Hip Dsyplasia (OFA Moderate or below) and hereditary eye or heart conditions for a period of two years. We also guarantee at the time of purchase that our puppies are healthy and have been examined by our vet. After pick up, each family has 5 business days to have their puppy seen by their own vet. If the puppy is found to be sick with a life altering condition, a full refund will be given.
DO YOU VACCINATE YOUR PUPPIES?
All of our puppies will leave our home with their first set of vaccinations. Any puppies that stay with us past 8 weeks of age will receive any additional age appropriate vaccines.
WHAT WILL MY PUPPY COME HOME WITH?
Each puppy will go home with their vet records, our health guarantee and a Welcome Home goody bag. The components of our goody bag can vary some at times. But you can always expect to receive a sample sized bag of puppy food, probiotics, blanket, training treats, toys and chews. If your puppy is being transported with our flight nannies, this bag will be shipped to you before your puppy's arrival.
WHERE ARE YOUR PUPPIES RAISED?
All of our litters are born in our home and stay there until they are around 3 weeks old. At that time, they are growing quickly and need more space. Our puppy nursery was previously a three car garage that we renovated in 2021. Once moved to our nursery, each of our litters has their own designated space. The building is insulated, heated and cooled. We have water, a washer and dryer and grooming area. We are very proud and happy to have such a special place to raise our puppies.
ARE YOUR PUPPIES
POTTY TRAINED?
Around 3 weeks of age, we begin implementing a litterbox system with our puppies. Litterboxes provide multiple benefits. First, it provides a potty area for our puppies and teaches them that there is a designated area to use the bathroom. Second, it helps keep our puppies clean. They typically learn very quick and by the time they go home, our puppies are using their litterboxes almost every time. Once our puppies are old enough and it is safe for them to venture outside, we take them out to potty frequently. We also provide our puppies an introduction to crates. However they will by no means go home completely crate trained.
HOW MUCH DO YOUR PUPPIES COST?
Pricing for our puppies is determined based on a few of different factors - color, size, coat type and structure. You can typically expect pricing to be in the $3000-4000 range. We will occasionally have "breeding quality" puppies priced higher. These are puppies that we may have intended to hold back for our program. Pricing will be set after our puppies are born and clearly indicated on each litter page.
DO YOU OFFER ANY TRAINING PROGRAMS?
Although we hope to in the future, we do not currently offer an official training program. That being said, we understand that some families will want some extra help training their puppies, those first few months can be tough. With that in mind, we made the decision to partner with BAXTER & BELLA. Baxter & Bella is an online puppy school. Members have access to Puppy Prep, their online curriculum that consists of step by step lessons that not only teaches your puppy how to act, but coaches you on how to train. Puppy Prep provides new puppy parents with videos, methods and other materials to train in a positive way. Member access also includes LIVE Puppy Coaching, online obedience classes that you can join and follow along with from the comfort of your own home. You can also schedule one-on-one time with their trainers. When you become a member, you get LIFETIME access to all of this, plus much more. I have been incredibly impressed with this company and are happy to recommend them to all of our Glass House Families! To sign up and become a lifetime member, please visit their website and click "Become a Member" on their menu. Baxter & Bella has generously provided us our own discount code, that our families can take advantage of for 20% off! Our discount code is GLASSHOUSE.
WHAT COLOR BERNEDOODLES DO YOU OFFER?
We currently offer puppies in a variety of colors. We regularly have black tricolors, blue merle tricolors and red/apricot tuxedos. Chocolate is a recessive gene and a little harder to produce, especially since Bernese Mountain Dogs do not carry the gene for it. It has been one of our top breeding goals to produce chocolates on a regular basis and we have been actively working on our chocolate lines for years. We are very proud of the progress we have made and are so pleased to be able to offer chocolate and chocolate merle tricolors to our clients as well.
DO BERNEDOODLES CHANGE COLORS OR FADE OVER TIME?
Unfortunately, fading is a pretty common occurrence in poodles and doodles. Obviously this does not affect their qualities as pets in any way and we think that our dogs are gorgeous no matter what! Fading can look a couple different ways - sometimes a dog's black base color can turn grey over time. Or their phantom points (the brown on their legs) can lighten as they age. We understand that some clients want a puppy that will hold its color and this has been another goal of ours. By being very selective of the puppies we hold back and add into our program, we are improving our lines generation by generation. We are proud of how far we have come and excited about what the future holds. However, no doodle will ever truly be completely non-fading. Please be wary of breeders who make these assurances. Another thing to keep in mind - chocolates do tend to fade more than other colors.
